This special issue addresses core topics on the design, the use and the evaluation of Big Data enabling technologies to build next-generation context-aware applications and computing systems for future intelligent environments. Disruptive paradigm shifts such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) will create a wealth of streaming context information.
Short description: Bringing together the EXCELL project aims and partners expertise with the German national initiative “Industrial Data Space (IDS)”. The project will expand Europe-wide and bring in scenarios for transportation and logistic. Thus, the EXCELL-related PRFs led by Fraunhofer and IDS Use Cases will be presented and discussed together. The presentation will disseminate the actions taken up in the EXCELL project as well as the consortium’s expertise with regard to future activities like upcoming workshops, staff exchanges, etc.
Next EXCELL consortium meeting will be held in Birmingham, from 9 to 12 May 2017. Host organization will be Aston University.
Main activities and planned agenda will focus on management aspects, deliverables and upcoming tasks and events, mainly related to sustainability, synergy and exploitation for future collaborations, journal and conference publications and participation, and researchers mobilization.
The meeting will also comprise a workshop on diversity in engineering, as well as scientific training sessions between partners of the consortium.
Leading industry experts claim the Internet of Things (IoT) as the next Industrial Revolution. The IoT applications seem to be limitless.
The EXCELL project offers a networking event at Fraunhofer FIT, the project partner leading the research fields on cyber-physical systems (CPS), business-based IoT and human-system interaction.
The IoT Innovation and Networking Days take place on 22-23 May 2017 at the FIT Campus and cover the following aspects:
The hyperconnected manufacturing systems laboratory of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Bath is organising the sixth conference on Changeable, Agile, Reconfigurable and Virtual Production (CARV).
EXCELL partners will present a paper on some of the project's priority research topics titled "Efficiency and security of process transparency in production networks: a view of expectations, obstacles and potentials".
Main themes of the conference will cover:
The 2016 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC 2016) will be held at Hotel Intercontinental Budapest. SMC 2016 is the flagship conference of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society. It provides an international forum for researchers and practitioners to report up-to-the-minute innovation and development, summarize state-of-the-art, and exchange ideas and advances in all aspects of systems science and engineering, human machine systems, and cybernetics.
